A global energy trading & marketing company is searching for an experienced Commodities Structurer to undertake structuring activities across crude, refined products, renewable gas, and renewable fuels. This position is part of the commercial team and works directly with business development, originators, traders, and customers to put together commercial deal structures and products.


Key responsibilities include to:

  • Design complex valuation and price models (for maximum economic value) for large, structured transactions including joint ventures, supply/offtake, capital structures and derivatives,
  • Optimize capital structure of deal including equity and debt financial funding,
  • Identify key market and credit risks of structure,
  • Proactively provide commercial insights to internal stakeholders for key elements of deal structure,
  • Support business development and originators with drafting term sheets and negotiation of commercial structure,
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and shepherd the deal through internal review and management approval processes, and
  • Work collaboratively with traders to structure hedges and other risk mitigation strategies around structured transactions.


Educational and professional requirements include a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, mathematics or other numerate focus; 5+ years of energy experience in a commodity structuring role, project finance, investment banking M&A team, or in private equity valuations; prior experience pricing and structuring large, complex transactions; strong understanding of embedded optionality and drivers; experience with deal valuation and financial modeling including cash flow analysis; exposure to crude, refined products, renewable gas or renewable fuels; and strong communication skills.
