An international energy trading & marketing firm in Houston is searching for an experienced Credit Risk Manager to support the natural gas trading business and a new power business in the future. This role reports to the Chief Risk Officer. Responsibilities include:
- Managing a team of credit risk analysts;
- Developing credit risk models and financial models to measure counterparty risk;
- Evaluating credit and assessing risk for new and existing counterparties;
- Providing recommendations on the establishment of credit limits;
- Reviewing structured lending and derivative transactions;
- Negotiating trading agreements including the contract, collateral, and credit terms;
- Monitoring the credit quality of the portfolio by considering industry trends and market information;
- Negotiating bank documents (letters of credit, parent guarantees, credit terms for extended lines of credit);
- Managing credit exposure in the ETRM;
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders such as Accounting and Marketing on credit-related issues;
- Providing reporting on portfolio credit risks/exposures;
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, and
- Interacting with the parent international office.
Educational and professional requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field; 4+ years’ experience in a credit risk role supporting gas, power or crude oil trading; ability to negotiate master service agreements (NAESB, ISDAs, EEIs); good knowledge of S&P, Credit Risk Monitor, Bloomberg and Moody’s reports; understanding of derivatives; familiarity with non-trading agreements (storage, pipeline, transport and netting agreements and structured deal contracts); and proficiency with Excel, Access, SAS or SQL.
