An international energy firm in Houston is searching for an Emissions Trader to join its Commercial Team. This is a newly created position and part of a new and growing Power, Environmental & Gas Trading & Marketing/Origination business. This position is responsible for developing, managing and optimizing an Environmental trading portfolio in support of green power initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing emissions trading portfolio including U.S. obligations and hedge transactions within trading risk policies and guidelines,
  • Maintaining an accurate position and managing trading exposures and risks associated with the Environmental portfolio through bilateral and OTC markets,
  • Collaborating with Energy Marketing/Origination to design and implement products and strategies to grow the Environmental products portfolio, and
  • Working withing power trading and commercial analytics to build a market view of the Environmental/Emissions landscape to support short-term trading initiatives and long-term strategic efforts around green power.

Educational and professional requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field (advanced degree preferred); successful experience trading and managing RECs and carbon exposures; strong knowledge of Environmental markets, carbon products and compliance offset requirements for various RTO’s; and knowledge of North American RTO/ISO markets.
