A private equity-backed energy trading, marketing and asset management firm in Austin is searching for an experienced energy middle office candidate to join its team supporting both physical and financial trading & marketing desks. Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Measuring, valuing, and reporting the daily position, mark-to-market P&L and risk management reports;
  • Reconciling financial trades to FCM, broker statements, and reviewing fees/charges related to trades;
  • Understanding of trading portfolios and strategies in conjunction with the overall energy markets from a risk, liquidity and fundamental perspective;
  • Providing management commentary and data analysis on trading activity;
  • Monitoring trader risk to ensure compliance with control policies and trader limits;
  • Supporting the middle office and trading desks with ad hoc analysis;
  • Supporting the cash forecast and accounting processes (e.g., accounting to economic value reconciliations);
  • Regulatory reporting to include FERC 552, Sales Tax Reporting, DOE, and others;
  • Participating in projects in the U.S. and international offices to automate and streamline processes;
  • Interact with traders, schedulers, risk, accounting and other teams for a 360 degree view of the energy business.

 

Employees are under a work-from-home arrangement until it is safe to go back to the office.

 

Educational and professional requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or related field; 5-10 years’ experience in energy risk, trade reporting, valuations, product control, or a middle-office PnL role supporting a power, gas, crude oil or refined products trading & marketing desk; strong working knowledge of the physical and financial natural markets; ability to assume a variety of responsibilities and work independently; strong analytical skills; and experience with ETRM systems, specifically OpenLink Endur, and strong Excel, Access, VBA, SQL skills are required.
