A global energy marketing and trading firm is searching for a Middle Officer to support the natural gas trading desks. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of market risk and P&L reporting and oversight of trading process activities.

Responsibilities include:

• Middle office support for a natural gas physical trading and marketing business;
• Monitoring, analyzing and reporting market risk including Value at Risk (VaR) and stress scenarios;
• Production of daily position reporting, P&L reporting and P&L attribution;
• Performa price verification for price curve validation;
• Derivative valuation and modeling of structured transactions;
• Understanding of trading portfolios and strategies (by deal, portfolio, trader and region) in conjunction with the overall markets from a risk, liquidity and fundamentals perspective;
• Providing management insightful commentary on trading activity; and
• Communicating with traders and internal stakeholders to understand fundamental market conditions and report on trends and risks associated with the desks.

Educational and professional requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field; 3+ years’ experience in market risk or product/trade control supporting a natural gas trade desk is preferred; a strong risk control-mindset; strong understanding of vanilla and exotic options and other gas-traded instruments (storage, transportation); ability to communicate complex trading transactions; analytical skills; experience with OpenLink/Endur is a plus; and advanced Excel skills including VBA, SQL and data analysis skills (required) to help with analytics and automation.
