A global energy merchant trading company in Houston is searching for an experienced power quantitative strategist to join its commercial trading team to primarily undertake power structuring activities. Key responsibilities include 1) designing complex valuation and price models for structured products with an initial focus on pricing load-following deals (load auctions) and 2) ongoing modeling enhancements and backtesting to the pricing engine/pricing library. Secondary responsibilities include providing quantitative support for the speculative power and FTR traders with optimizing their ARR/FTR and Day-Ahead/Real-Time portfolios and developing trading tools.

 

Educational and professional requirements include an advanced degree in a quantitative field (hard sciences required – mathematics, engineering, physics, etc.); 5+ years of experience in a power quantitative role with prior experience pricing and structuring complex transactions (exotic options, bespoke structures) or experience building or enhancing pricing models (required); strong understanding of embedded optionality and drivers; and experience with coding (required).
