A Solar and Battery Storage Developer is searching for an experienced Transmission Analytics professional to join its Commercial Operations Team. The position focuses on assessing locationally-advantaged solar/storage sites for greenfield and acquisition across the U.S. The position requires an expertise in modeling and navigating projects through the transmission/ interconnection processes. There is direct involvement with getting renewable projects off the ground and working internally with the Development, Origination and Project Finance Teams as well as working externally with Utilities and ISOs.


Strategic transmission responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with solar and battery storage generation development activities through transmission system and congestion evaluation;
  • Developing and analyzing power flow models across different geographic/ISO areas. Providing analysis of congestion and basis risk;
  • Conducting interconnection studies to determine optimal location for new solar/storage generation projects, negotiating interconnection agreements and managing the interconnection process for projects;
  • Interacting with key internal stakeholders (Origination, Development, Market Analytics, Project Finance etc.) to select optimal sites for projects;
  • Interacting with ISOs and utilities to understand congestion and grid dynamics (utility expansion plans, conventional generation retirements and private transmission projects) related to greenfield and acquisition opportunities.


Educational and professional requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus) with a Masters preferred; 3-7 years’ experience developing solar and/or battery storage projects; experience with transmission planning and interconnection processes; experience using large-scale transmission system model/commercial software tools; programming skills in in Excel, VBA Python, R, Matlab, Access, etc.; and strong communication skills.
