A global energy trading & marketing firm is searching for candidates to join its commodities middle office risk team and focus on improvement initiatives. Two positions are available focusing on process and systems improvement goals and special projects. The first role is dedicated to process analysis and redesign, and the second role is dedicated to utilizing technology to migrate and improve models using Python.  Both positions focus on delivering continuous improvement and innovation initiatives within a middle office risk team supporting four trading desks (Low Carbon, Gasoline, Distillates, Crude).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to understand requirements,
  • Evaluating, recommending, and implementing applications, tools, and solutions for the commodity risk teams that ensure timely validation of deal blotters and business summaries from the front office, price curves, deal level MTM, exposure, and P&L,
  • Becoming a superuser for the ETRM systems, and
  • Supporting regional and global standardization initiatives.


Educational and professional requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Finance or related numerate field; 5+ years of experience working in process improvement, redesign, and or consulting OR working in multiple development environments and programming languages (object-oriented development in C#, Python, SQL, and/or Java); experience in risk, trade reporting, valuations, product control, or a middle-office PnL role; strong understanding financially traded instruments; and ability to communicate complex trading transactions. Experience in the energy markets is not required, but it will be necessary to have a strong understanding of the trading transaction cycle.
