A retail energy provider (REP) in Houston seeks a Retail Electricity Data Quality Analyst to ensure complete and accurate data is aggregated for use in load/sales forecasting and customer segmentation of large and complex Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers within the NYISO, PJM, ISO NE, and MISO markets. This position supports a team that forecasts MTM forward costs and evaluates contracts and portfolio performance within a broader load forecasting and retail trading team. The Data Quality Analyst is responsible for aggregating data related to customer usage, ISO capacity, transmission obligations, and site classification. It is also responsible for sourcing and integrating new parameter records.

 

Responsible for Data Quality Analysis of retail customers and related usage records including:

  • Extracting C&I electricity usage data (ISO-, regional-, zonal-, and congestion-level) from external/company sources and load forecasting systems using Oracle, SQL, SQL Server, etc.
  • Reading and interpreting tariffs across ISO markets to understand customer classification, capacity/auction structure, transmission, and other determinants that impact rates, billing, and overall segmentation.
  • Developing a thorough understanding of load and modeling components for deregulated retail electricity customers by ISO, including complex C&I customers.
  • Developing a strong understanding of the billing process.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in retail electricity / power billing or pricing, product control, gross margin accounting, sales operations, or settlements.
  • Experience with ISO and utility electricity tariffs and related EDI codes.
  • Experience extracting, using, and analyzing EDI data files from utilities.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with data extraction, analysis, and reporting across complex system structures.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and experience with SQL Server or Oracle SQL is a plus.
  • Moderate programming skills (VBA, scripting, Python, MATLAB, R, SAS) are a plus (or ability and willingness to learn).
