A competitive power generation firm in the Dallas area is searching for a Senior PJM FTR Transmission Trader to join its FTR/CRR team (trades across all the US ISO markets). The Trader will be responsible for research, analytics and strategy in support of the PJM FTR trading portfolio. FTR trading includes the long-term, quarterly and monthly auctions, and in Day Ahead and Real Time markets. The focus of this position is hedging their generation, but the Trader will also get involved with managing a trade book and an analytical support for the commercial physical and financial power trading teams.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and optimizing the PJM FTR generation and retail load portfolio in the short-, mid- and long-term,
  • Maintain a profitable PJM FTR and Virtual trading book,
  • Fundamental strategy development in the PJM FTR auctions and Virtual markets,
  • Running production cost models, transmission and congestion research, and price forecasting,
  • Build models and trading tools and will use both data mining and fundamental analysis techniques, and
  • Provides PJM POV and interacts with multiple teams including Origination, Development, Regulatory, and Plant Operations.

 

Masters or PhD in electrical engineering (power systems focus); 10-15 years of PJM transmission and congestion experience with an expertise in the market rules of PJM; minimum of 2 years of FTR trading experience at a utility, IPP, or power trading firm; strong modeling and programming skills; steady state power flow analysis, production cost modeling, dispatch modeling skills using PowerWorld, PSSE, DAYZER, UPLAN, PROMOD, PSO or PLEXOS, etc.; and programming skills (VBA, Python, R, or C++).
